Purpose
CodeGNV is a group of technology professionals who play a supporting role in Florida Community Innovation (FCI).
CodeGNV serves three purposes:
- Mentor FCI student interns
- Help develop FCI projects and other nonprofit tech projects
- Build the Gainesville tech community through networking and social events
Team
History
CodeGNV was founded by a group of technology professionals in Gainesville, Florida in 2022. In their full time jobs, members hold roles including Chief Technology Officer (CTO), product manager, full stack developer, freelance developer, product marketing manager, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) developer. The team wanted to make a greater impact beyond their professional roles, and they formed CodeGNV to leverage the skills they’ve developed in their careers to improve their local community.
In 2023, CodeGNV connected with FCI, realized the snug organizational fit, and joined forces. The mission of CodeGNV shifted to include mentoring FCI students, helping with FCI projects, and building the local tech community.
CodeGNV prepares the next generation of civic technologists in Florida and helps build projects that improve the lives of Florida citizens right now.
