Ensuring equitable civic engagement and voter education.
In Summer 2024, three of Florida Community Innovation’s student leaders — Ariana Marenco, Yemima Dort, and Olivia Zhang — received support from Campus Vote Project, a nonprofit organization committed to reducing barriers to student voting, and VoteRiders, a nonprofit organization dedicated to voter ID education and ID access, to plan a voter education event.

When did this event take place? Saturday, August 24th, 2024 from 11 AM to 3 PM
Where did this event take place? 626 W Gore Street, Orlando, FL 32805
The “Every Vote” event was designed to coincide with a back-to-school event where families can pick up essential school supplies. As parents arrived with their children to prepare for the new school year, they, along with other community members, had the opportunity to learn how to register to vote and receive information on their voting rights.
Ariana created a video celebrating the event!
We also took lots of photos.

Jimmie Williams, a respected community leader and co-organizer of the event, expressed his excitement about the dual-purpose event: “Back-to-school season is a time for fresh starts and new beginnings, and what better way to start the school year than by empowering our community through voter education? We’re not just handing out school supplies; we’re helping to build a stronger, more engaged community.”
This event was more than just a chance to collect school supplies—it was an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate civic engagement. The Orange County Supervisor of Elections and VoteRiders, the nonprofit organization mentioned earlier on this page dedicated to voter ID education and ID access, attended to mentor the student leaders and help with voter education.
Mariana Garcia-Leal, one of our student leaders, wrote a news story about the event.
